The Caernarfonshire & District Golf Union has served golf across Caernarfonshire, Merionethshire and Anglesey since 1915. It belongs not to its officers alone, but to every one of its 18 constituent member clubs. The Union is only as strong as the voice given to it by those clubs.
In recent years, attendance at County General Meetings has fallen to levels that make it difficult to conduct the Union’s business in a manner that properly reflects the wishes of its members. At the 2025 Annual General Meeting, no club representative was present. This is a situation the CDGU is committed to addressing — not with criticism, but with a clear and practical invitation.
To strengthen the relationship between the County and its clubs, the CDGU asks every member club to appoint two Club Delegates to act as a formal link between their club and the Union. These delegates are the voice of their club within the county, and the County’s voice back into their club.

The Role
What Club Delegates Are Asked to Do
Attend County General Meetings
Delegates are expected to attend all General Meetings of the CDGU, including the Annual General Meeting held in January each year and any further meetings scheduled throughout the season. These meetings are where the County’s affairs are discussed, decisions are made and the Union’s direction is set.
Keep Your Club Informed
Delegates are responsible for reporting back to their club’s management committee on all activities within the County, and for communicating any resolutions that will be put to a vote at an upcoming General Meeting. An informed club is an empowered club.
Vote on Behalf of Your Club
At County General Meetings, delegates attend, participate in discussions, and cast their vote in accordance with the instructions of their club’s management committee. Under the County Constitution, each constituent club is entitled to representation at General Meetings, with one vote exercised on behalf of that club.
Promote County Competitions to Your Members
Delegates act as an additional communications link between the CDGU and club members. This includes sharing dates and venues for County competitions and assisting members who wish to enter those events. County competitions are open to all qualifying members of affiliated clubs — delegates help ensure those opportunities are well known and accessible.
