A Draw, Four New Faces, and One Captain Put Firmly in His Place
The Caernarfonshire & District Golf Union came together today at Porthmadog Golf Club for the first county get-together of 2026, and it was great to get the squad together as we kick off the county season.
First and foremost, a sincere thank you to Porthmadog Golf Club for their generous courtesy of the course. The club’s hospitality did not go unnoticed, and all of the players enjoyed the course in its new layout
To every player who made the trip: thank you. Days like this are the backbone of county golf, help to build on the fantastic team spirit, and the turnout and commitment shown reflect well on the squad.
Four New Additions to the 2026 Squad
Perhaps the most exciting news to come out of today is the addition of four new faces to the county setup for 2026. George Price and Stephen Nealey, both of Conwy Golf Club, join alongside Nick Lofthouse and Rhys Tecwyn Jones from North Wales Golf Club. All four acquitted themselves well today and offer the squad real quality and depth going forward. The future of county golf in Caernarfonshire is looking very bright indeed.

Spare a thought for Rhys Tecwyn Jones, who came within a whisker of making a hole-in-one and for the captain, who got unceremoniously taken down by Nick Lofthouse, who wasted absolutely no time in making his presence felt.
