Caernarfonshire opened their county match campaign with a hard-fought 4.5 – 4.5 draw against Flintshire in a closely contested encounter at Nefyn Golf Club on Sunday. Played in excellent conditions, the match proved to be an incredibly tight affair, with five of the nine matches across the day ending all square.
Caernarfonshire made a strong start in the morning foursomes, taking a 2.5 – 0.5 advantage into lunch after a series of impressive performances. The opening session provided a solid platform and gave the team momentum heading into the afternoon singles.
Flintshire responded strongly in the singles, edging the session 4 – 2 in a fiercely competitive afternoon to ensure the overall match finished honours even at 4.5 – 4.5.
With so many matches going the distance and ultimately being halved, the result reflected just how evenly matched the two counties were throughout the day, producing an excellent contest played in a great spirit.
The county would like to extend sincere thanks to everyone at Nefyn Golf Club for hosting the fixture. The course was presented in outstanding condition and provided a superb test for both teams.

While the result ended level, there were plenty of positives to take from a strong team performance as attention now turns to the next county fixture.
