Harpin triumphs in testing conditions to win Aberconwy Trophy

County player Shaun Harpin produced an outstanding performance to claim the prestigious Aberconwy Trophy after four demanding rounds played across Conwy and Maesdu Golf Clubs over the weekend.

Representing North Wales Golf Club, Harpin battled through extremely challenging conditions at times to emerge victorious with a superb 72-hole total of 296 (+8), securing a memorable win in one of the area’s most respected championships.

The Aberconwy Trophy, played over 36 holes at Conwy Golf Club on Saturday and a further 36 holes at Maesdu Golf Club on Sunday, once again provided a stern test for the field, with difficult weather adding to the challenge throughout the weekend.

Harpin’s consistency and resilience across all four rounds proved decisive as he held firm in the demanding conditions to lift the title and cap an excellent weekend for county golf.

There was further county success with an impressive performance from Jason Spencer of Betws-y-Coed Golf Club, who secured an excellent fourth-place finish overall against a strong field.

The county would like to congratulate Shaun on a fantastic achievement and also recognise Jason’s excellent performance across the weekend.

Finally, sincere thanks go to both Conwy Golf Club and Maesdu Golf Club for hosting the championship and presenting two excellent tests of golf despite the challenging weather conditions.
