Junior development
The CDGU is committed to building a sustainable future for golf across its three regions. Through the CDGU Pathway — an ambitious junior and performance initiative — the Union is working to identify, develop and support young golfers from their earliest introduction to the game right through to county representation, Wales Golf selection and beyond.
From beginners picking up a club for the first time through to scratch players competing for the county, the Pathway provides structure, coaching access, competitive opportunities and the support of experienced county players and selectors. The goal is simple: that no talent in Caernarfonshire goes unnoticed or unsupported.

Visions & Objectives
The CDGU junior pathway is designed as a continuous progression — from a player’s first introduction to county golf structures, through junior county competition, into the men’s and seniors programmes and on to national representative ambitions.
U14s Development
Young golfers, particularly those at higher handicap levels, are introduced to the county programme through their home club. The Under 14s Development Officer works with clubs across the county to identify promising juniors early and create a welcoming, low-pressure environment for their first exposure to county golf structures.
Junior Development
Players progress into the county junior programme, managed by the Junior Organiser. This includes participation in the CDGU Boys/Youths Scratch Championship, junior inter-county matches against Anglesey, Denbighshire and Flintshire, and tailored coaching
Wales Golf Integration
The CDGU Pathway works in close collaboration with Wales Golf to ensure that the county’s most promising players can access national-level training resources, representative squads and competition pathways. Selected juniors are supported in aligning their development with Wales Golf’s standards and performance benchmarks.
County Golf Progression
The Pathway bridges junior golf and senior county representation. Developing players are mentored by experienced county team members, giving them access to the knowledge and environment of top-level county golf before they are ready to compete in it. The long-term goal is a self-sustaining talent pipeline capable of competing at national and, ultimately, international level.
