It is with great sadness that the Caernarfonshire & District Golf Union announces the passing of Teifi Rhys, one of the most dedicated and beloved figures in the history of county golf in this part of North Wales.
Teifi was there at the very beginning of the CDGU as it is known today, and his contribution to the Union over the decades that followed was immeasurable. He gave his time tirelessly to the Junior and Colts sections, helping to shape and inspire generations of young golfers across the county, and was a long-standing figure in the organisation of the Men’s team.
He served as Treasurer of the CDGU from the Union’s early days through to around 2015 — a period of sustained commitment that very few could match — and also held the honour of Past President of the county, a reflection of the enormous respect in which he was held by all who knew him.
Teifi was, in every sense, a stalwart of county golf in Caernarfonshire. The Union would not be what it is today without him, and he will be very sadly missed by everyone in the county golfing community.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
